Back-friendly work environment

Back-friendly working in the dental practice.

In a series of videos, Ulrich Kuhnt demonstrates how to work ergonomically and explains why this is so important.

Being seated correctly as the practitioner.

In the following video, Ulrich Kuhnt shows you how, as a dentist, you can work in a more back-friendly way. Particular attention must be paid to an upright posture and an ergonomic adjustment of the dentist’s chair.

Positioning of the patient (sitting)

In this video, Mr Kuhnt explains how to position a patient in a sitting posture – for example during counselling. The treatment unit, especially the headrest, must be adjusted to the patient in order to make the treatment as comfortable as possible for the patient.

To provide maximum treatment comfort for your patients, we offer the KaVo RELAXline soft upholstery.

Positioning of the patient lying down

In order to facilitate working in a neutral body posture as a dentist, the patient should be positioned according to the treatment to be performed. Here, too, the headrest is one of the key factors. It directly affects the working area, the patient’s mouth, and thus the best possible view and access.

The KaVo Comfort Cushion is a rotatable upholstery for upper and lower jaw treatment. This ensures relaxed patient positioning even during lengthy treatment sessions. The magnetic wedge attachment can easily be mounted on the headrest.

Dynamic seating position

It’s not just an upright sitting posture that is important for working ergonomically. You can also relieve the strain on your back with specific movements. In this video, Ulrich Kuhnt demonstrates how you can incorporate short exercises for your back into your daily work routine.

The variable height of the patient chair of the KaVo ESTETICA E70/E80 Vision treatment units ranges from 350 mm to 900 mm, facilitating the treatment in both a sitting and standing position.

Dynamic standing position

Working in a standing position is a good way to make up for a lot of time spent sitting. In this video, Mr Kuhnt demonstrates a number of things that you should be aware of.

With the KaVo foot control, you can easily control your treatment unit with your foot while standing.

Ergonomic sitting of the assistant

For the assistant, the same ergonomic rules apply as for the dentist. Here too, an ergonomic chair and an upright posture are important. It is particularly important that the legs of the assistant and the dentist fit comfortably under the backrest.

The right lighting

Good ergonomics in a dental practice also includes the right lighting. If the working environment is not properly illuminated, it is not only the eyes that suffer. Poor lighting also has a negative effect on your posture causing more strain on your neck and back muscles. In this video, Ulrich Kuhnt elaborates on the concepts of optimal illumination.

KaVoLUX 540 LED makes it possible and gives you the perfectly illuminated treatment site with up to 40,000 LUX.

Doctor and assistant elements

Further important components for back-friendly working are the doctor and assistant elements. In this video, Ulrich Kuhnt explains the features they should be equipped with.

The doctor and assistant elements offer many possibilities to meet individual requirements.

Foot control

The foot control also plays a significant role. The most important functions can be operated without any effort using the foot control. This allows the dentist to concentrate exclusively on the job at hand.

Operate your KaVo treatment unit easily and conveniently with the foot control.
